Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) involves concentrating your blood and isolating the portion which is “rich” in platelets. Platelets are cells that respond to injury and promote tissue healing and regeneration by releasing growth factors. Once these are isolated, these can be injected into areas of tissue injury to promote healing.
Stem cell injections are performed using a concentrated bone marrow aspirate (BMAC). Bone marrow is taken from the iliac crest of the hip, then the fluid is concentrated and injected into the injured area. BMAC contains multiple factors including mesenchymal stem cells which can then produce significant tissue healing and regeneration.
